"JAL has also been caught on camera in the somewhat nightmarish and NSFW video for “Rein Drein”, which features the creature on the run from its metallic lion puppet carrying captors. Clad in lingerie and sporting a waxy moustache, JAL flashes back to simpler days when the bath salts were readily available before ending up in a dungeon with whips, baby costumes, and other instruments of pain for pleasure"
Watch ᶅ Ѧ Ⱡ's other videos for scrapin' by and noostory below!!
Little is known of the alien life form known only as ᶅ Ѧ Ⱡ, however a report dating back to 1997 details the secret discovery of a gelatinous puddle found in the parking lot of a Del Taco drive-thru in Santa Monica. The scientific data analyzed from these finding reveals that JAL began to evolve over time mimicking the shape and behavioral patterns of humans. After a bizarre incident one night involving several lab workers, a bag of bath salts and a test poodle, ᶅ Ѧ Ⱡ managed to escape. With a crazed addiction to bath salts, a unique talent for singing and playing guitar, and a need to carry out a message from its home planet, ᶅ Ѧ Ⱡ has been spotted across the globe in various haunts and dives parlaying a desperate plea and terrorizing peoples ear canals.
ᶅ Ѧ Ⱡ’s most recent sighting was in Toronto, Canada where an equally mysterious audio cassette labelled BUM was uncovered from beneath a soggy mattress in a cheap motel in the Steels and Jane area of the city. Soon after its discovery, a video surfaced online with the title rein drein, featuring what experts claim to be the best visual documentation of ᶅ Ѧ Ⱡ caught on camera. The title of the video, and the music featured in it corresponds to a track from the BUM tape, leading people to speculate that it must be a music video of some kind. The cassette and the original video file was hand delivered to Heretical Objects Cooperative by paranormal investigators who we’re well aware of the local micro-label’s ravenous taste for the strange and the mysterious.
On April 20, 2016, a fitting day to commemorate the human mind’s occupation with heady things, H.O.C. lovingly made ᶅ Ѧ Ⱡ"s BUM available to the general public. Featuring 10 expertly conceived tracks of sci-fi scuzz ballads with tweaked out paranoid electro beats, you can get your hands on this limited edition release exclusively at the H.O.C. store.

On Feb 17 & 18, 2016, Long Winter & Heretical Objects Cooperative proudly presents Insulator: a giant audio-virtual maze installation that takes place inside the Sandbox, Artscape’s new, 6000 sq ft performance space at Adelaide and Widmer. Improvised collaborative performances by Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, Holy Fuck, Lido Pimienta, Jennifer Castle, DOOMSQUAD, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Not the Wind Not the Flag, Sandro Perri, JOOJ, Egyptrixx, Soupcans, and Fucked Up will make up the surround sound live score accompanying the installation.
The INsulator space is designed so the audience finds themselves navigating through a sheer, semi-inflatable maze/fort structure. The musicians will play behind the fabric walls of the fort, providing a visceral sonic landscape as attendees create their own immersive experiences inside the labyrinth. Layered video projections provided by new Toronto production team PORCH will bleed through the maze on repetitive loops, consistently shifting contexts with the amorphous improvised musical scores. New perspectives on the relationship between sound and image will emerge, empowering the audience with the agency of signification and actualization.
This collaborative sonic sculpture offers two spheres to its exhibition: the sphere of the performer, and the sphere of the spectator. There is a conscious division between the two spheres, where each subtly influences the other through osmosis, rather than direct transfer. This is a unique opportunity to listen to some of Toronto's most exciting musicians make music together, shaping immersive landscapes that converse with the energy of the space.
About the team behind the project:
Long Winter is a curated interdisciplinary arts festival series based in Toronto, Ontario. The concept is to promote live concert events that go beyond just showcasing great music.
Heretical Objects Cooperative is a multi-disciplinary cross-country cooperative of artists and administrators whose varied approaches and visions are bound together in the spirit of collaboration and a total observance of existential DIY. Working in film, music, dance, and art, H.O.C. has exhibited across Canada in large scale, site-specific projects. Collaboratively they have curated many multifaceted events, and have been releasing the music of Canadian bands since 2011.

"Taking inspiration from late-'80s/early-'90s industrial (and maybe a little DJ Shadow), Nailbiter is more about dark forboding atmosphere than song structure or hooks. And on that level it totally works, and would make an excellent soundtrack to a gruesome Halloween haunted house, next nightmare, horror film." BROOKLYN VEGAN

Exclaim! is giving you the first look at the band's brand new video for "Above the Fray."
The track shows off the band's knack for post-punk with a pop twist, while the video itself introduces the viewer to a protagonist — who is also a real life superfan of the band and the video's creator — named Michael. He wanders the streets of Portland with his Walkman, playing drums on any surface he can find.
A press release notes that "as the sole submission received for the band's fan-made music video contest, Michael's effort was the obvious selection for official music video."

Exclaim has premiered the full OK to Disconnect visual album by Marriage. Directed by our own Jenny Warne, as well as our, and Marriage's own Brett Zadravetz.
"Any venture begins and ends in disappointment. If both are the same, and the middle represents the point at which one finds themselves the least disappointed, we could assume that one has felt the most at the beginning and the end, and perhaps in the middle is the least satisfied." - Director, Mutual Friend (Jennifer Warne)
We dare you to only watch one.
Head over to Chart Attack to see the first of our "anti-video" series directed by the bands own Brett Zadravetz and our own Jenny Warne! We have one for each song off the record, so stay tuned.

On Marriage’s debut full length OK To Disconnect, out on May 13 via Heretical Objects Cooperative, all the chaotic points of their previous efforts converge to form a fully realized & cohesive tonal image with great depth and subtle intricacies. Heavily indebted to artists Len Lye and Philippe Blanchard, the band has produced a series of music videos for each track on the album, sculpting out their bold audio corpus with visual flesh and limbs.
Release Show: May 15th @ Double Double Land w/ Mystic Triangle & DOOMSQUAD DJ set
From No Wave to Power Pop, Toronto's Marriage eat up everything in their vicinity only to regurgitate it back onto the floor in a heap of neon sludge. Since their formation in 2013, the prolific young 4 piece has released 10 singles and b-sides, as well as a series of EPs (most free online). Onstage, Marriage offer up their sound in tandem with homemade installations that have included wire-frame sculptures, noise-sensitive light, and a large pulsating egg. The band’s interdisciplinary tendencies have led to shows in venues like the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery and the Gladstone Hotel. Sonically and visually, Marriage create a nest of spectral delights that awaits your presence to reveal its contents.
